PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the syllabus requirement, students are required to meet a physical requirement at each grade in relation to:

· "Ab blasters" (an abdominal "crunch" exercise).
The requirement is not onerous and is easily attainable with regular training. It is designed to ensure students have the minimum strength and fitness necessary to effect the techniques. The requirements may be modified to take into account injury or disability.

DAN PROMOTION COURSES

Black Belt promotion courses are designed to provide valuable instruction, resources and materials for Black Belt development both in terms of a student's own technical progress and his/her instructor's and examiner's qualifications. The course takes place over two days and includes both lectures and physical practice. The course features videotaped analysis of a student's technique and a detailed review of all of the teachniques required to be demonstrated by the student at their next grading. It is one of a number of pre-requisites that have to be completed before a Yudansha (Black Belt) grade can be awarded to an aspiring candidate.
